A round figured walnut top, two inches thick, on a black steel spider base. Three diameters and three heights, so it works as a dining table, a taller gathering table or a kitchen table.

Height is the option most tables do not give you. A standard dining table is 30 or 31 inches and that suits a dining chair, but a kitchen table people perch at, or a table that has to work with stools or with a counter behind it, wants to be taller. This one is built at 31, 33 or 36 inches.
The top is solid walnut at two inches thick, heavier than the usual inch and three quarters, and cut from boards chosen for figure rather than for uniformity. Expect deep browns running into golden highlights and grain that moves rather than sits still.
The black steel spider base keeps the underside completely clear, which matters more on a round table than any other shape, because chairs come at it from every direction. Built to order, so the top is particular to your table.
Walnut is a hardwood but it is not the hardest, and a figured top shows wear sooner than a plain one because the eye is already drawn to the surface.
- Wipe spills when they happen. Standing water is what marks the finish, not the spill.
- Trivets under hot dishes and coasters under cold glasses. The centre of a round table takes the serving dishes and wears first.
- A damp cloth is the whole cleaning routine. No all-purpose spray, no oil soap, nothing with silicone in it.
- Figured walnut darkens and deepens with light over the years, which is a good thing, but it wants to happen evenly. Do not leave a placemat or a bowl in the same spot for months.
- The oil finish is repairable. A scuff spot-oils by hand without refinishing the whole top.
- Re-oil the working areas every year or two so the sheen stays even.
- Check the base bolts once a year. A single central base carries the whole two inch top through one joint, and a taller table has more leverage on it.

It holds up well to everyday use and finishes with a soft, high-end sheen. Over time, walnut may lighten slightly with exposure to sunlight, settling into a more even, mellow brown. If you want a classic, upscale look that isn’t overly busy, walnut is a strong choice.

Every piece is made to order, so each one is built for you after you order it and cannot be resold to anyone else. For that reason we cannot accept returns or cancellations for a change of mind once work has begun, and payment is taken in full up front. If you need to change anything about your order, tell us before we start and we will do what we can.
Check your piece as soon as it arrives. If it is damaged in transit, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of both the piece and the packaging, and we will repair it, remake it or refund you. Keep the packaging until the matter is settled, since claims are harder to make without it.
If something is wrong with the workmanship itself, tell us within 7 days of delivery and we will put it right. We built the piece and we would rather fix it than have it sit in your house annoying you. Repairs to a hardwax oil finish can usually be done in place, and where they cannot, we will take the piece back. Return shipping is on us.
Some things are not faults. Solid wood varies in grain and color from board to board, so your piece will not match its photograph exactly, and it will shift in tone over the first year or two as the wood reacts to light. It also expands and contracts slightly with the seasons. All of that is the material behaving as it should, and it is the reason a solid piece lasts decades longer than a veneered one.

Two checks before you order. Leave at least 36 inches between the table edge and the nearest wall or furniture, so a chair can pull back with someone able to walk behind it. The quick version: subtract 72 inches from your room's length and width, and what is left is the largest table that fits comfortably. A room measuring 12ft by 10ft takes a table up to 72 inches by 48 inches.
