An oval white oak table top in solid hardwood, from 36 by 24 inches up to 72 by 48, one to two inches thick. Pale, tight grain and a hardwax oil finish. Top only.
- Solid hardwood every time
- Handmade to order
- Securely shipped

White oak is the sensible premium choice. Pale golden brown with a straight, defined grain that gives the surface texture without shouting, and a closed grain structure that makes it the most water-tolerant of these woods. It is what boats and whisky barrels are made from, which tells you most of what you need to know about how it copes with daily life.
An oval gives you the length of a rectangle without the corners, which is what makes it work in a narrow room where people have to get past occupied chairs. This is a top, not a table, so the base is your decision, and it suits metal, wood and pedestal bases equally. On thickness: one inch suits a desk or light use, one and a half covers most dining, and two inches is for when you want the edge to read heavy.
Four sizes, from 36 by 24 inches up to 72 by 48, each in three thicknesses. The hardwax oil finish is low sheen and repairable rather than a plastic coating, which is why these work in cafes and restaurants as well as houses. Larger sizes ship in a custom pine crate.
A table top is bought to go onto something, and how you fix it down matters more than anything else you will ever do to it.
- Let it sit in the room it will live in for three or four days before fixing it to anything. Wood moves to match the humidity around it and it is better to let that happen before it is held down.
- Fix it with fasteners that allow movement across the grain: figure-of-eight fasteners, Z-clips, or slotted holes. A top screwed rigidly through tight holes will crack across the grain, and no finish prevents that. On an oval this matters most at the narrow ends, where there is least wood to absorb the stress.
- Oil the underside as well as the top. A top sealed on one face only takes up moisture at different rates and cups.
- Wipe spills when they happen. Standing water is what marks a hardwax oil finish, not the spill itself.
- A damp cloth is the whole cleaning routine. No all-purpose spray, no oil soap, nothing with silicone in it.
- Hardwax oil is repairable. A scuff spot-oils by hand, and a light re-oil every year or two on the areas that get used keeps the sheen even.
- White oak is closed-grained and the most water-tolerant of these species, so it is the safest choice next to a sink or in a kitchen. It is still wood and still wants the spills wiped.

White oak is known for its clean, modern look and strong, confident grain. Its color ranges from light tan to medium brown, and it works especially well in contemporary, farmhouse, or Scandinavian-style spaces. White oak is a durable wood choice for daily use, and it holds up well over time.
The grain can be straight and subtle or more dramatic, depending on the cut, but it generally feels refined rather than rustic. White oak also takes stain well if you want a specific tone. It’s a great all-around option when you want strength and a timeless appearance.
| Color | Light tan to golden brown |
|---|---|
| Grain | Strong, visible grain |
| Hardness | 1,360 Janka. Hard wearing and the most moisture resistant of the group |
| Best for | Traditional, transitional, Scandinavian and modern interiors |
Every piece is made to order, so each one is built for you after you order it and cannot be resold to anyone else. For that reason we cannot accept returns or cancellations for a change of mind once work has begun, and payment is taken in full up front. If you need to change anything about your order, tell us before we start and we will do what we can.
Check your piece as soon as it arrives. If it is damaged in transit, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of both the piece and the packaging, and we will repair it, remake it or refund you. Keep the packaging until the matter is settled, since claims are harder to make without it.
If something is wrong with the workmanship itself, tell us within 7 days of delivery and we will put it right. We built the piece and we would rather fix it than have it sit in your house annoying you. Repairs to a hardwax oil finish can usually be done in place, and where they cannot, we will take the piece back. Return shipping is on us.
Some things are not faults. Solid wood varies in grain and color from board to board, so your piece will not match its photograph exactly, and it will shift in tone over the first year or two as the wood reacts to light. It also expands and contracts slightly with the seasons. All of that is the material behaving as it should, and it is the reason a solid piece lasts decades longer than a veneered one.

Want a different size or wood?
Will this size work in your room?
Two checks before you order. Leave at least 36 inches between the table edge and the nearest wall or furniture, so a chair can pull back with someone able to walk behind it. The quick version: subtract 72 inches from your room's length and width, and what is left is the largest table that fits comfortably. A room measuring 12ft by 10ft takes a table up to 72 inches by 48 inches.
How many it seats
| Length | Seats |
|---|---|
| 60" | Up to 6 |
| 72" | 6 to 8 |
| 84" | 8 |
| 96" | 8 to 10 |
| 108" | 10 |
| 120" | 10 to 12 |
How wide to go
| Width | Suits |
|---|---|
| 36" | Narrower dining rooms and smaller spaces |
| 42" | The versatile everyday width, with comfortable place settings |
| 48" | Larger rooms, wider settings and a more substantial presence |
Based on 24 inches of table edge per person. Chairs with arms take more room than that suggests, so measure yours before choosing between two sizes.
Width changes how the table feels rather than how many people fit.
Fitting to a base you already have
Measure the base and allow one to two inches of overhang on each side for a dining table, more on a desk. Send us both measurements and we will confirm the fit before cutting.
If none of these sizes suits your room, we build to the dimensions that do.

This custom table I received was beautifully made. It is sturdy and functional, and looks quite nice with a decent matte finish. The quality of the white oak is excellent. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, it took more than 3 months for me to finally receive the table after the initial order. That is the main reason I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5. The quality of the table itself is certainly 5 stars.

We couldn’t be happier with the custom tabletop we had made! It’s a stunning blend of purple heart and walnut, finished beautifully with Rubio Monocoat. The craftsmanship is absolutely top-notch — every detail is perfect. He built it exactly to our specifications, carefully gluing 1-inch-wide, 84-inch-long alternating pieces that give it a truly one-of-a-kind look. Beyond the incredible quality, it’s inspiring to see a young local woodworker building such heirloom-quality pieces. His passion, skill, and story really shine through in his work. It feels great to support a local artist who’s creating furniture that will last for generations. Highly recommend — this table is both a work of art and a piece of Tennessee craftsmanship we’ll treasure for years to come!

The table I had received from Kieran is exquisitely well built, and one of a kind no two tables are alike. The warm hues of the colors of the wood in dark brown, light brown, and light yellow brings out the table's looks. You cannot go wrong in a custom built table, it is one good investment.

The shape of the branches not being straight adds so much to the beauty.

The base being approximately 1” makes them not likely to tip over. This tree beat my expectations!

Ambrosia maple is another wood I was not familiar with. Now it is one of my favorites. Basically a lighter wood but has dark tones in it.

This craftsman’s coasters are a bit thicker than many others, which I like. Provides extra protection to your table surface. Particularly if you use for a hot drink or candle.

Whereas I am using the coasters as coasters, I can’t help but think if you are going to have Kieran build a furniture piece, purchasing a coaster/coasters would be a great way to see the wood. I think it might help in deciding which wood you would like to use.
